The Ocean is a Beautiful thing

8 05 2010

Tonight I went to see the movie Oceans. Funded by Disney etc. the film was a magical extravaganza. I highly suggest that everyone commits to watch this movie. It’s completely pleasurable and quite a learning experience.

David Orr Lecture

27 04 2010

David Orr is a new hero of mine. I attended a lecture this evening at Depaul University. His views on the environment etc. are mind blowing. Science facts can be boring, but its our lifestyles that are creating a dilemma which will be irreversible for future generations. This is the reality our media does not cover. Pay attention and lets begin our research on what we can do to help the future generations (It’s now or never to make a difference in the survival of resources).

My own personal youtube channel

14 04 2010

I have been “rapping” since my senior year of high school. I put rap in quotation marks due to my poetic, and not so categorized preference.  I rap because it comes natural and because I have a lot to say!! I tend to keep my music to myself  which leads me to this post. I’ve decided to start posting certain flows’ on youtube. My friend Wale, (no, not the rapper Wale), tells me youtube is a bad decision and it “fucks up careers”. I don’t seem to care, I just want people to get a taste of my style and hear feedback from an audience. I’m not the best, I don’t know if I’m ever going to release an official mixtape or anything, but its a start. If I get enough feedback I’ll be inspired to really begin my own music project. If you are reading this or have time to click on the link, please leave a comment and let me know what you honestly think… You’ve already spent time on my efforts, so speak to me okay? THANKS, peace and love.

Music is so much better LIVE

9 04 2010

My previous post was about Little Dragon whom I got to see at the venue, Lincoln Hall in Chicago. While youtube’ing I found a recap of this musical magic. This video does a pretty good job of capturing some  of the nights highlights. All the other youtubes have terrible sound quality. At any rate, I had a wonderful time! Danced my ass off and will remember the Little Dragon experience for the rest of my life.

I like to call it fate…

26 03 2010

I’m familiar with Little Dragon, but just tonight came across the song, “Constant Suprises”. The sweet melody and calming lyrics couldn’t hit me at a more perfect time in life. Sometimes I fear I make my life more complicated than it needs to be, other times I feel I’m just vibing and living in all the possibilities. No matter what part of my brain is right, my life is filled with constant suprises, and for that I am thankful. Crazy enough,  I’ll be attending a Little Dragon show in Chicago on April 1, 2010 :) Can’t wait!!

Freestyle of one of my Favorite artists…

11 03 2010

Guy Maddin

8 03 2010

This quarter my Foundations of Cinema class is quite inspiring. My professor is an artist herself therefore shares thought about stylistic films in class. Recently we watched one of Guy Maddin’s short films titled, “The Heart of the World” which is posted. It was the first time I’ve seen it and it took my breathe away. The intensity of music choice and rapidness of  the cuts is genius. This film looks like it was made in the early 1920′s but, was actually made in 2000 on a one million dollar budget in a warehouse in Canada. I look forward to catching more of Maddin’s work and am excited to use some of the same treatments on my own film endeavors.
